Support for Business Association
The OPSR will provide support to Business Associations, the benefits of which should redound to the members of the Association. Support will be provided under three main areas, namely:

Product and Market Development
To compete in modern markets, organizations need to have an in-depth understanding of the markets in which they operate and sufficient research into the markets that they seek to expand into. The OPSR under this component will seek to facilitate the expansion of market access for services and products and for the establishment of mechanisms for direct trading, market intelligence support services as well as trade and payment facilitation. |

Human Resource Development |

The OPSR recognizes the importance of a sound, competent workforce to the development of St. Lucia’s service-based economy. Therefore we are keen on providing the assistance to improve effective entrepreneurship/technical skills. This will be done by supporting the provision of high quality and well-adapted training, technical assistance and consultancy. |

Business Cooperation / Agreements
In order to experience continued growth, St. Lucian business will need to explore the potential for establishing joint ventures and strategic alliances with both international and regional counterparts. This will positions our companies to be more competitive within the CSM as well as in the wider global economy. The OPSR will therefore provide support to help promote joint ventures, strategic alliances and technology transfer. |

Support for the Public Sector
A more efficient Public Sector will be able to provide better support to the Private Sector. Hence, the OPSR will provide support to the Public Sector, Ministries, Statutory Bodies etc. through the following initiatives:

Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening
This will be conducted with a view to improving the capabilities of the Public Sector Agencies to meet the needs of their clientele as well as improving the quality of the dialogue between themselves and the private sector. |

Policy and Legislative Improvements
This will assist with the review of existing legislation that may be hindering private sector development in addition to the drafting of new legislation. Government will therefore be assisted in developing a policy environment that will foster growth in the Private sector.
